Design, modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, post-production —
all are typical steps in the creation of 3D animation. To introduce you to
the process, here's a brief document to explain the initial steps:
After meeting with you or discussing your project, the typical starting point is a
storyboard showing a visual outline of the project. If a script (for voiceover, e.g.)
is to be used, this is incorporated with the visuals for the storyboard. The project then proceeds through one or more draft phases as we approach the final version. For simple projects, a few design sketches may suffice in lieu of a full storyboard.
For more complex projects, an animatic (a storyboard with basic animation) may be desired.
